Plano Bicycle Association Website

Attention: open in a new window. PDFPrintE-mail
The PBA or Plano Bicycle Association website has gone through three life cycle changes. It was originally written with ASP on windows servers as I was deep into Microsoft and .NET development. Then as open source matured and became hot in demand, I switched it to PHP/MySQL instead of ASP and Access. I later used MsSQL as I was certified on that and trying to keep it all Microsoft. Eventually, I switched to all open source using MySQL for the data storage as the PHP/MySQL popularity was rising.

PBA Site
You can see the third and current phase of the http://www.planobicycle.org webiste using Joomla. Joomla or what we call CMS / Content management systems have come along way offering a platform inwhich I can defer many standard modules that I don't have to write from scratch. This site is a Joomla site and common traits of a Joomla website is the menuing and content system it provides. It allows for users to enter/submit/edit content without being a web guru or knowing any HTML or programming languages.

This has allowed communities to offer more relevent content to thier members by members. I exclusively use it to develop club and non-profit sites that are highly interactive and eCommerce empowered.
