Oracle
( 1 Article )
Oracle has been on the acquisition spree for quite some time. with the latest acquisition of SUN they just have too much stuff to cover. I specialize in ERP and CRM and any supporting technologies. And the supporting technologies are getting bigger than ERP or CRM. Many acquired solutions like Synaptics, Hyperion, Agile, Primavera, Retek, Synaptics, Demantra and others are knowledge black holes within themselves. How they all co-exist, assist, enhance, or confuse is upto the eye of the beholder, or usually the experience of the beholder. -
PeopleSoft

PeopleSoft continues to be a major player in the HR space despite Oracles push for Fusion. Apps unlimited will keep it alive and healthy for a fee of course. -
Siebel

The best thing Siebel has going and value add to Oracle is its "On-Demand" CRM. Some think it is better than the on-premise version. I only was exposed to Siebel for a couple years during the Oracle acquistion, but I did go through all the Siebel training and spent some significant time on some Siebel Loyalty opportunites. Siebel is good stuff, but pricy to implement. Loyalty was not a SaaS solution. I think Oracle needs to turn all thier apps into SaaS solutions to survive the long haul as more vendors come to play with good SaaS solutions. Check out Microsoft CRM for instance, SaaS is now part of the deployment methodology. -
Microsoft
( 1 Article )
I have always liked Microsoft products no matter how proprietary they may be. It just seems to work well if you know how to use it. I have the same thoughts for Apple in the media world, I just happen to be a application specialist so media, graphics and the world of color is not my bag. I am an infrastructure guy that likes to integrate best of breed solutions, but single sourcing does have its advantages, and with all the acquisitions going on in the IT arena, single sourcing is becoming a easier option.
